GUEST LECTURE ON MODERN METHODS ON HUMAN TISSUE PRESERVATION
A guest lecture on “Modern Methods of Human Tissue Preservation” was held on 11th January 2019 at the Seminar room of the Department of Anatomy with the participation of both academic and non-academic staff members. The guest speaker was Professor George Dias [BDS (S Lanka) MS (Dental Surgery), PhD. (Otago), Specialist in Dental Surgery PGIM (Colombo)], Professor in Anatomy, School of Medical Sciences, University of Otago, New Zealand. Prof. S.G. Yasawardene introduced Prof. Dias to the audience. The lecture highlights the latest developments on human tissue preservations, the methods use in the Department of Anatomy, University of Otago and the advantages of new cadaver preservation methods. Prof. Dias was very satisfied with the anatomy dissections conducted at Faculty of Medical Sciences and he discussed in detailed the "New Otago cadaver preservation method and its advantages". The guest lecture was organized by Dr. Sajith Edirisinghe, Lecturer, Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
