Hands on Endoscopy Workshop
The "hands on endoscopy workshop" for surgical registrars organized by the Department of Surgery, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the College of Surgeons, Sri Lanka in collaboration with Sri Lanka Association of Minimal Access and Digital Surgeons (SLAMADS) was held on the 18th April, 2021 with the honorable participation of two eminent professors in Surgery.
This programme was held with the vision of giving an overview on the basics of endoscopy to the surgical registrars at the earlier stage of their post graduate training.
This was a very informative workshop which had a variety of sessions including lectures from senior professors and live demonstrations done on patients by country’s well renowned surgeons in the field on endoscopy.
24 surgical registrars participated in the workshop and the valuable guest participation of Emiratus Professor Mohan de Silva and Professor K I Deen as resource persons added more colour to the event.
This hands on endoscopy session would not have been a success without the unyielding support from the Olympus Group who sponsored the mannequins.
It is the expectation of the organisers of this workshop to make it a mandatory session for the postgraduate surgical trainees in the near future. The Department of Surgery, University of Sri Jayewardenepura look forward to conducting similar workshops for the betterment of the young post graduate trainees in surgery.
