UNIVERSITY SPORTS
While the academic programme lays the foundation to career paths, the faculty encourages and supports the medical undergraduates to take part in sports and other recreational activities.
The Department of Physical Education of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura offers a wide range of sporting facilities to suit the needs of our students.The facilities are available to all the students, including students interested in representing the University at inter-university competitions, students who simply want to learn a new sport and for recreational purposes.
Cricket, Football, Wrestling, Rugger, Weight-lifting, Judo, Basketball, Netball, Hockey, Athletic, Cycling Races, Swimming, Carom, Baseball,Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, Handball, Elle, Chess are some of the sports that the university of Sri Jayewardenepura offers.
Swimming Pool
- This is the largest swimming pool complex in Sri Lanka with a length of 50m and 10 lanes.
- It was funded by 'Tharunyata Hetak' foundation, the D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial and the Education and Cultural Fund.
- It was inaugurated by His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the 15th of November, 2012.
